Village Priorities

PUBLIC HEALTH & SAFETY

  • Ensure our first responders and police officers have the resources they need to safely and effectively serve our community.

  • Strengthen community policing efforts to help reduce and prevent crime and make Mount Prospect a safe and welcoming community.

  • Support public engagement initiatives with strong resident outreach and public-private partnerships. 

  • Foster positive relationships with our Police, Fire, and public works unions.

  • Employ a data-driven approach to transparency that builds trust and overall awareness of public safety operations and services.

  • Maintain strong human services and community wellness programming and initiatives. 

FISCAL MANAGEMENT

  • Maintain a high quality of services, programs, and infrastructure throughout the Village.

  • Ensure taxpayer funds are being spent responsibly and efficiently.

  • Encourage proactive efforts to seek alternative revenues, which help ease the tax burden on residents and businesses.

  • Push for diversified tax revenues to ensure we are not overly dependent on any single revenue source. 

  • ​Encourage greater public participation in the annual budget process to ensure tax dollars are being spent on community priorities and concerns. 

  • Support responsible bidding and procurement processes to ensure we are protecting taxpayers.

  • Address systemic inefficiencies that have led to an increase in costly litigation and negative consequences for our residents.

ECONOMIC VIBRANCY

  • Champion initiatives that support existing small businesses and help bring new business investment to Mount Prospect. 

  • Advance a development strategy that appeals to broader private investment.

  • Support projects that increase access to affordable and workforce housing throughout the Village.

  • Increase transparency in the development process.

  • Support the creation of uniform TIF criteria and policies for financial assistance to ensure equitable, responsible and safe development.

  • Support land dedication or an impact fee to build safe green spaces for children and families.

  • Support community-driven investments in our neighborhoods, such as modern infrastructure, flood control measures, utility improvements, and code changes that promote sustainability. â€‹

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Strengthen stakeholder relationships to allow for more informed and inclusive decision making.

  • Engage proactively with regional partners and state/local officials to promote and secure Mount Prospect's interests.

  • Support increased transparency and ensure everyone can engage with local government by addressing barriers to accessibility.

  • Establish a meaningful public input process for Strategic Planning, including a dedicated Committee of the Whole discussion, televising meetings, and making agenda materials available to the public.

  • Ensure Village policies and services are equitably implemented to serve residents, businesses, and community partners across the Village.
